Dee Dee Taylor, who has academic degrees in social work and criminology, is the daughter of an incarcerated parent sentenced to life in prison, and the oldest sister of Breonna Taylor, who was killed by a Louisville police officer while asleep in her bed in 2020.
In 2022, Dee Dee Taylor channeled the pain of those two experiences into the founding of Taylor Made Reentry, a comprehensive reentry program designed to prepare individuals with the essential tools, resources, and emotional support required for a successful reintegration into society. The group also runs “H.E.A.L.,” or Helping Eradicate Adverse Law-Enforcing, a national initiative that addresses the impact created by police officers who have unjustifiably destroyed black and brown communities through excessive and violent policing.
