Dr. Ashley Goldon was until recently the executive director of Nation Outside, a Michigan-based grassroots advocacy and policy organization entirely led by formerly incarcerated people.
Under Dr. Goldon’s leadership, Nation Outside grew to twelve chapters statewide, conducting advocacy around post-secondary education for the incarcerated, supporting Clean Slate implementation, and advocating against housing policies that exclude justice-involved individuals.
Within three years of her release from a Michigan prison in 2010, Dr. Goldon graduated with honors from South University, and went on to earn a doctorate in social work from USC. In 2021, Dr. Goldon was a JustLeadershipUSA Leading with Conviction Fellow, and in 2023 was honored with the JustLeadershipUSA Leading with Conviction Award. She also serves as the founder and CEO of Impact(FUL) Consulting, which uses evidence-based methods to advocate for and facilitate change in policies and systems around crime and justice.
