DEMOCRACY
Galaxy Gives supports year-round grassroots organizing, political education, and “get out the vote” efforts in key states across the country. We believe our democracy is ailing and excluding many at the margins of our society. We invest in organizations that are mobilizing communities who have been historically and currently excluded from our democracy and electing candidates who reflect this base and who are motivated and accountable to act on the issues that afflict these communities.
Currently, Galaxy Gives primarily commits its Democracy funding through One for Democracy, a coalition of philanthropists and CEO’s pledging 1% of their networth to Democracy, you can learn more about their pillars of investment here.

JUSTICE
Our criminal justice work is dedicated to ending the reliance upon structures of confinement and control and, instead, building a society committed to healing, restoration, and safety.
We believe that by (1) shifting the focus of our justice system from punishment and retribution to accountability and healing; and (2) divesting resources from human caging and instead investing in communities that have been targeted by racism and criminalization, we will contribute qualitatively to realizing a multiracial democracy.

Galaxy Gives believes the true power of transformation starts with healed individuals and communities. While we invest to bring changes on the externalized, systemic levels, we also recognize deeper inner healing needs to precede or accompany those systemic changes to transform and evolve our society towards a genuinely multiracial democracy.
Currently, we are not making investments in this area while we undergo a landscape analysis for the remainder of the year.

Galaxy Gives believes that we need to invest in developing the next generation of moral, civil, and spiritual leadership if we hope to create a better world. People who have been most harmed by systems of oppression are the most equipped to dismantle them.
Thus, we support organizations building this next generation of leaders and have developed the Galaxy Leader Fellowship program to invest directly in leaders who are working to end mass incarceration, heal our communities, and expand democracy. Outside of the Galaxy Leader Fellowship program we are not currently accepting new funding applications in this area.
